Big Police Speed Trap

Maybe in years to come, vehicles will be fitted with speed limiters. Simply keep vehicle from going above the limit of the particular road you are on. Emergency vehicles could either be exempt, or would have to hit an over ride button, and so keeping a log of when and why they were speeding. Surely the technology is already here now, just the cost of implementing it..

Flipping heck, more limitations on our freedoms. Why are people so hell bent on letting governments curb our freedoms and use our own money to do so.

I know I'm cross reading threads, and not picking on jonbeeza specifically, but why would we really want that?

I'd like to think we have many more other priorities to sort out like helping our fellow human beings to be safe, healthy and warm. Look after our soldiers when they come back home. You know proper useful acts of passion.

I am not saying I want that, I am saying if they really wanted to stop us speeding they could. If government wanted to stop us smoking they could, simply ban ciggies. But they they don't really want us to stop doing certain things, because there is money to be made, and a lot of it.

I think you have misunderstood me, I did not say I wanted vehicles speed limiting, I said it could be done if they really wanted us to slow down.

No, it wouldn't mean that at all. There are speed regulating road surfaces that don't rely on those mechanisms but have it build in the road.

Behind my parents home there is a stretch of link road that has the new speed regulating surface. Go ten kilometres over and your car will be shaking heavily. Not even our air suspension vehicle can keep up with it. It is so annoying that you'll slow down and enjoy the smooth ride.

They removed the speed cameras and signs and everything. It now is self regulating. Great system in my experience.

They are very few and far between though. I don't encounter that many speed bumps I need to slow down for. Only ones would be the bolt down rubber ones which are invariably found on private property or car parks, or so severe and sharp edged, you'd be advised to crawl over them at 5-10mph like the bolt down ones.
