So “The Range” in your do big 100x70 frames but the Perspex isn’t good… take away from the image! There only £12, any other suggests for here in the UK as I’m struggling to find some nice ones?
Thanks
Nick

in the past i've used just the frames, without the perspex, and bought a bespoke mount for inside the frame for under £10. certainly looked great until i was sure it was worth investing in a more professional frame and mount. for something that i was undecided on

At that price you could afford to substitute the glass of your choice. But then what happens to the plastic? I hate waste.

Dunno if Neilsen, say, do that size (googling is free!). Or make your own ;).

The thing is with the budget shop frames is that the glazing is Styrene not Acrylic(Perspex).

IKEA Ribba frames used to have 2-3mm float glass but switched to plastic a while back.

The last time I bought frames I bought custom made though not at the size you need. The supplier had a few glazing options of which the base one was standard Acrylic (as opposed to UV grade one). But as custom made they were a step up in quality ;)

You can get some really nice big frames in charity shops if you hunt around. Damaged wooden frames can be sanded and re-varnished or sprayed and they often come with glass. Aside from being unique, it's also a green option :) Our local charity shop has an industrial sized bin for the really over sized frames. Probably one of the outlets, or furniture charity shops is better than a small high street job.

Cutting the mount can be tricky, but it's possible to DIY (shameless plug) or just approach a framing company for something bespoke.

If you're in a city that has a sizable art student community there is often a shop (or more) where the students go for cheap frames (inevitably with glass in)...

Thanks for all the help guys! I shall defo look into the things you all suggested

Thank you very much
Nick

I tend to get the ones from hobby craft.

Pretty decent value for money.

I know this might sound silly BUT the perspex on cheap frames tends to have a layer of protective cover on it which isn’t obvious until you open the frame up and when removed makes it much clearer.
