Hello All

I have just got my new Trek Valencia hybrid bike on the bike scheme with my organisation. Im starting to get little bits for it here and there (bike wall mount etc.) im just wondering if anyone knows of a good bag that sits on the bike / frame that would safely hold my SLR and 2 lens maybe 3?

I have just got into cycling again and did a 25 mile route the other day and to my suprise the scenery was brilliant and would have made alot of photo ops, unfortunatly no SLR was present.

Can anyone help?

Can't help at the moment but I would also be interested in camera bike bags. I have a 40d with 100-400 lens and would love to take it out on my bike but need to be able to carry it safely.
 
Ortlieb make padded camera inserts for their handlebar bags. I don't have one myself but have seen them recommended. See here, top of page 3.
 
I use a bike as my main form of transport. To carry my camera equipment including my tripod I use a backpack. No amount of padding could make me feel comfortable with all the shaking a camera strapped to a bike would have to endure xD
 
Being a bit of a cyclist and using a hybrid myself, they have ZERO suspension and the tyres are invariably narrow and hard! Having had an IPOD shaken to ***** on the handlebars I certainly would not mount the camera on the bike.

You are a very good shock absorber! I use a small Lowepro sling bag. It has a waist strap to hold it in position, works well. You need something that stays on your back and not accidentaly swinging round to the front distracting you.

Thanks for the tips guys, i have heard some good things from detuer bags made in the USA butim not convinced, having looked around this afternoon before then going out for a bike ride (which i now am really paying for :thumbs:) someone sugguested that if your camera bag has a laptop slot why not DIY the camelbak in.....so i did, i would recommend it if you kit isnt heavy, i had a 30d + grip, 24-70 f2.8 L 17 - 40 F4L extra batteries the bike pump wallet and then the camelbak in my laptop compartment tied up with string and used the bag clips to secure, i then did a 25mile trek from Harwich to Walton on the Naze and back, my neck is a little sore but i wanted to take pictures, at the moment swings and roundabouts, it was heavier than a camelbak (OBVIOUSLY) :lol: but its worth it if you want to take pictures.
 
Had a quick look around for backpacks and spotted the Lowepro Flipside 200 (halfprice at WExp) so have ordered one. Sizes seem about right. Heres hoping :)
 
Good luck to you mate, let me know how that works out for you. Its a real shame as i like cycling alot and want to take my camera but i also want to take the camelbak and put that in a compartment in the main bag as well as room for food and money etc. :( Anybody else found something
 
A lot of the mountain biking photographers I know attach the camera lens bag using clips to the front of their chests, this way its easily accessible when they need it.

It all has to be measured up correctly otherwise your knees will bang it when riding.

Just had a better look and the Lowepro Dryzone 200AW fits the bill, big enough to fit wallet phone money ipod etc, has a hydration pack built in whihc unfortunatly isnt a big enough space to fit my 3 litre :( and a water tight secure camera section, all in rucksack format with chest straps for security all done up with large zippers. WHAT COULD BE SAFER!!!, infact if the hydration pack compartment was big enough for my camelbak i would have one already, hope this helps people
 
I appreciate the post but im after more of a day pack, something where i can go out for the day with my camera on my back...only 1 bag that fits the 3 litre camelbak i have, my DSLR with battery grip attached and the 2 lens's with a set of spare batteries, my wallet phone keys money and ipod. Almost like a daypack

Bag arrived today ( Lowepro 200 Flipside). Takes every thing I need camera wise for a day :). Everything else - waterproofs, cycle tool kit etc goes in the pannier. Just got to work something out to carry scope & tripod if visiting local reservoir :eek: However, now I need to road test it all ;)
