Yes
i have a free day in about a fortnight on a Weds and was thinking of having a go at some plane shots at my nearest airport.
does anyone know if there is a clear viewing area at B'ham for this type of shoot, if so how much is it and more importantly how do i get access to it?

I think that is behind glass though!

Unless you are really after the big planes there is usually a lot going on at smaller (grass strip) airfields with flying schools etc, in my experience you can get a lot closer too. I don't know of any round your way, but I'm sure there will be one nearer than BHX

Been a few years since I went, but there used to be a grassy area quite close to the runway that all the togs and short wave radio weirdos used.

Thanks all
sorry Marcel, put it in wrong one, saw the aeroplane bit and posted there

Nowt wrong with Staverton mate and it's probably busier than you imagine. Bamfurlong Lane is right under the end of the runway and is ideal.

Does that mean i can stop in the lane and snap away with no worries about being stopped?

I have done before. Park in the old road opposite the entrance, it's right under the runway. You won't see anything major but there are a few small jets that use it and loads of learner planes.
