Hi all

Just been looking at some courses that are available and was wondering if any one on the site has any knowledge of one in-particular.

The course in question is the BFP Course, the Shoot "N" Sell Course as it is named it is a correspondence course that tutor's you into the mindset of producing images that sell.

I have some information on the 16 lesson course and was wondering if anyone has enrolled in this course what their take on it is.

Was it a worth while course
Has it helped in the the selling of your images
Would you recommend it...

All info gratefully received....

I did this course in 2003, but only to lesson 6/7. Mainly due to other commitments at the time, plus it's not always easy to find suitable material for each submission. I can still read the lesson 8-16. In 2007 I decided to try selling to magazines again, I now do this through and agency and sell about 6/8 pictures a month. Not a huge amount I know, but the lessons I learnt have been put into action.

At the time digital wasn't the main format for many markets, even today some only specify Medium and Large format. I spoke to an a picture agency that require digital files in the region of 70mb. So you're looking at scanned MF negs as a minimum. Having said that digital is taking over with many markets and I hope the BFP course book reflects this. I understand it has been updated. After each submission I would get a 2/3 page reply from the tutor, which highlighted good and bad points of the submission. This is not a course on taking photos. I never sent in a poorly exposed of out of focus picture, but would have been interested to see the comment had I of done so. Your reply would suggest how relevant your pictures are to the markets you have identified. You will start to look at your approach to taking pictures differently.

There are books on the subject of selling your pictures, but you do get personalized, feedback with the course, which can be invaluable. If your serious, go for it. It's a quick way to understand a broad range of markets, plus each month you get their newsletter, which identifies current markets opportunities.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input and information Natag...

I think I will have a ponder.

Many thanks
