Yes
Neil is right (here), we need a BF3 thread!

So, who plays BF3, are you on PC or console, and how do you rate it?

Personally, now the server side issues are ironed out, I love it. The game is so immersive and definately has a good 'Play it my way' flavour to it. So many different playstyles depending on you mood and the map.

I play on PC and the 64 player battles are something to behold. I play a lot of hardcore mode now, it's even more realistic but not overly so.

I'm co founder of a fairly large gaming community, if you fancy getting on a well run pc server look up 'Noobs like to party!' and join the one that isn't german (We got copycats!)

edit one of the ones. We currently have 5 online! catering for most game modes

:D

I think I might do that when I get in! Look out for me, H4v0C88, just try stay out my scope :p pretty patient when it comes to sniping. Longest head shot I have is 762m and the bloke was moving ontop of a crane :p made so many high pitch noises I'm not proud of :(

I liked BF2 but can't afford the upgrades I would need to play BF3 nicely :p

I played it on alpha and beta but not bought the game yet. I took delivery of Skyrim which is the game I will try to focus on next. Had a quick play earlier today :)

Just running through Campaign mode at the minute (PS3)...loving it!! but it's a borrowed copy and even though the guy i borrowed it off didn't like it he still decided to use the online pass!

And as he won't now sell it me on the cheap (as it'll cost me another 7.99 for the pass) i shall be waiting until xmas to go online!

I'm playing on the PS3 and loving it. K/D is at 2.2 and more importantly my win/loss is at 3.59 (just dropped down from 4.5 :( ) If anyone wants to team up online that could be a laugh. Send a request to Rigga89 and put TP in the message so I know you're not someone random.

I just started...haven't played a shooter game in ages and my hand is not as steady as it used to be ;)
U can add me : lbaszko

I play it on xbox, by far the best and most immersive shooter available, I love it.

Played BF2 pretty exclusively from last March until 27th October when I took delivery of BF3 :D

I'm not a serious gamer by any stretch of the imagination, don't really care about K/D ratios, just love the game :)

I will be back playing it after I run through MW3 campaign. (PS3 - Laird_Attwood)

Xbox! Being in the forces its similar structure with playing with real life situationsish...... Tactical, not like cod where your just legging it round. o greggles o xbox fans, mayb we can get a tp clan going lol

lol...although I do like the COD games, they don't suit my style of gameplay. I usually play recon/sniper so actually like to scope play from a distance and take my time...or camp as the haters would call it :)

I'm on battlefield 3 PC version.
I will check out these servers mentioned but in the meantime my user name is stupar79 if anyone wants to add me.
Just quote tp so I know who you are.

Playing through the campaign at the moment (PS3). Have to say, the thing that impresses me the most is the sound. The weapon sound and thump from RPG's and Grenades is brilliant through my hi fi.

Not got round to playing online yet. But seriously thinking about cancelling my MW3 order through Mr F Christmas

I'm on XBox as Strappster, mainly playing the multiplayer and becoming obsessed with it, same as I did with BF2BC and BF2 before it. :help:

The biggest problem I have is with the co-op missions as I play public so have to team up with a random and they've been less than useful at getting through the helicopter mission. Lost count of the number of times we've taken off and flown straight into the hillside. :suspect:

Of course, I'm a brilliant pilot and that never happens when I'm in charge ... :$

Im willing to do the coop mode with you if you want.....?

Loving BF3, I've always liked CoD (on xbox) but after getting disappointed with black ops very quickly I bought a cheap used copy of bad company 2 and loved battlefield's style of multiplayer, been hooked on it ever since.

Shame they didn't make a long singleplayer though, I thought when I opened the box and saw they'd spread it over two disks that that might indicate a properly long campaign mode, so I was a little disappointed to find it's still the same length, probably only 5-6 hours playtime for anyone moderately adept on normal. But still, the gameplay on and offline are exactly what I was hoping for so I'm pleased.

I'll probably still get MW3 around Christmas though, I do still like CoD for a bit of arcade style thrashing ever now and then and I still have a soft spot for MW2, plus split screen multiplayer and co-op are excellent when I have mates round (can't fathom why DICE still haven't done any sort of split screen in BF).

It all comes down to processing power I think. Two players on one console drastically increases the load on the system. MW2 stresses the system far less than bf3 and consequently can handle two players in split screen, or so I've read.

Im playing it on PC, Cpt_Braindamage

I will call on the server in the OP.

Awesome to see plenty of interest. I reckon this game will only get better as the server patches are rolled out.

My PC name is SeriousRikk if anyone wants to join up or try some co-op

Not had that happen to me, admittedly not played a lot, maybe 10 games online so far. What model PS3 is it? I am on a orignal 60gb with B/C etc

its the old 40gb (model after yours)

played even less than you mate, very first game it just froze. Played a couple more since and this afternoon screen just went black and froze again. Have to hard boot the console.

BTW, is there anyway you can set up a private mp game so you're on your own (used to be able to do it on COD4), just want to have an explore and learn the maps without getting shot to **** every 20 seconds :)

I'm a PS3 guy, loving it at the moment! Mainly playing as support/recon, if I'm not hiding in the bushes I'll be flying a jet/heli and trying not to get shot down... My k/d is a bit depressing at 0.84, but mostly that's from learning to fly the aircraft with a PS3 controller, I came from a PC with BF2! Think I'm pretty much there with it, just need to unlock some more cool stuff now.

Has anyone successfully used a laser designated missile yet? When I've got the acquisition system (eg, the SOFLAM for recon), nobody in jets/helis has a guided missile to lock on to it :(

Yes but only by spawning as a recon, placing the SOFLAM, dying then respawning as an engineer. The SOFLAM will continue to designate targets by itself and makes the javelin a one-hit disable without the need for line of sight.

The MAV is a great thing though, particularly if a support guy starts mortaring the targets you spot. Plus you can road kill with it and push snipers off roofs :D

Same for me I have to update my GFX card as apparently it won't run on my 8800GTX:(

Not wanting to start another debate but this is why I finally ditched gaming on pc's and switched back to consoles when consoles developed sufficiently. I ALWAYS had to upgrade my processor or GFX card when a top line release came out on PC. Then I had the frustration of installing, driver conflicts etc.

Just finished a mammoth session on BF3, love using the IR sight in my M4A1!

Having a few issues on the pc version after the latest update. Biggest load of poop i have wasted my money on in a long time.

Just unlocked the M224 mortar, played a hardcore rush on tehran higway 15-0 kills to deaths just camped at the back firing mortars like a right bitch, but I feel I deserved it after all the times I've been blown up by enemy mortars in the past :D

Aha, nice plan sir! Just need to unlock the other bits, I'm a level 14 overall at the moment, mainly playing as support/recon :)

Must give this a try some time!

The trick with mortars is to leave the squad you're in. If you're in a squad and the squad leader gets "spotted", it puts the whole squad on the enemies' minimap, so all the enemy mortar people will see you marked with a little mortar symbol and start targeting you straight away. If you leave the squad and find a nice spot of cover you can go on for ages. :naughty:

Have to agree, there's some lovely spots where your in cover, you can fire out but they can't fire in :p
