If I remember correctly, it's the Northern Hawk Owl that can dangerous bird as they have little fear about attacking anyone who gets to close to their nest.

Yes, although he was wrong since you don't need to close your non camera eye as you can't train yourself to see through only one eye or indeed to switch between eyes.

I find having both eyes open makes BiF much easier.
