OK, we've all heard about fake goods but this is the first time I've actually come across fake Nikon stuff.
I bought a couple of MB-D10 battery grips brand new on Ebay. There was a bit of a delay receiving them - the sellers excuse was that he had left a trusted friend to send them. I reckon he's nipped over to HK or China to bring a shed load back.
The reason I know they are fake is because both unit have the same serial number - pretty dumb.
Had I only bought one then it wouldn't have been quite so obvious.
Also both boxes are different shades of gold and having seen the serial nos. I then considered the units further.
They are cheap plastic replicas. Actually when I opened the box and saw the pouches for the AA tray I didn't think they looked very good quality, and, for saying they are supposed to be brand new, they didn't have the cellophane bags.
Enough rambling - the seller id is "jonnyboy12011" and he is still listing these grips and MB-D11's which presumably are also fake.

For your information - the serial number is 2255760

Nice one, thanks for sharing and just in time. Was only long at Nikon grips on there yesterday......

There is post here, or posibbly somewhere else I remember reading about this.

Dunno if it was the same seller, bit involved fake grips, each with the same serial number, also the number of screws on the top were different, and the boxes looked wrong.

Yup, someone one here bought a fake one off Ebay, there's a post somewhere showing the telltale differences.

....and, for saying they are supposed to be brand new, they didn't have the cellophane bags.

Seems that the latest listings are now listed as used.... The other weird thing is that they're not sending out until 9 working days have passed - is that because he transfers & banks the money 1st

I'd tend to think his Canon gear will be fake too.....

There was a video uploaded on nikonrumours talking about fake grips here

The seller is also trading in handbags, i'm sure they're genuine:suspect:

I sent the seller an e-mail asking if he was aware that it was a fake.

He replied that 'yes, it is replacement'. He didn't seem to grasp the difference between replacement (third party) and fake.

He's quick enough to refund the money though when you point out they are counterfeit.

He's making some decent money though it seems, that fake you listed sold for £142 +9p&p!

The fake grips listed as 'Nikon' from China are only £70, but even then that seems expensive vs the £20 no brand version. All about the same quality I expect.
