OK..

I think I am coming to my sense budget wise for now and to see if it something I would use a lot before I invest it higher cost.

Tamron 70-300 the latest version which seem highly rated
Or
Nikon 70-300 VR which I can get used for around £250

Which would be your pick.. I then will see if I really want to invest is a more expensive lens or do I want to stick with a few more primes...

Ive had both. Id give the VR a very slight edge in terms of image quality. Tamrons VC is very impressive though. Cant really go wrong with either.

Cheers twist

I have a Tamron 70-300VC (Canon mount). I've been very happy with the IQ from that lens and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Tested both when I had my d300s and walked away with the tamron..great lens, solid VC and IMO equal to if not better than the nikon.

Another who has owned both, for the money, IMO the Tamron is better value. I thought the Tamron lens had more pop than the Nikon version and the only benefit of paying approx £170 more, is for a slightly better build with the Nikon.

So so says Nikon some says tamron lol

Doesn't the Tamron come with a case like the nikon do? Not that it matters as can buy one for it.. Just wondering..

As I can get a used Nikon version excellent condition with everything for £295

My 150-600 didn't have a case.

Just buy one, either one, it doesn't matter as you will soon convince yourself that you should have got the other and buy that as well.

Not me I don't change that often and buy many things as I have to be carful with my £££

Care to list the cameras you've owned over the past year or so? :p

D750 and A7ii but to be fair my first D750 was a bodge

Given the time it takes for him to make a decision, my guess is not many !

@rookies just go and buy one. The longer you spend deciding, the less time you will have to take pics.

And before that which Olympus was it? and what did you switch to Olympus from?

olympus that was about 3 years ago I reckon...

I bow to everyone's knowledge on the Nikon as never owned a body for them but tamron vc punches above its weight o. Canon and can't see why as stated it wouldn't on the Nikon just get one mate and enjoy it ;-)
