Hi guys
I am completing a diploma with the institute of Photography and my current assignment is submit 5 images of wildlife in your area. I live in Basildon Essex so will need to find places that would be good for wildlife in my county. Any suggestions please?

Many thanks
Chris

Essex wildlife at south hanningfield, they have hides there and you are likely to see deer if you are quiet and patient. Or go to south weald park (Brentwood) where they have deer in an enclosure.
swans and other birds on river crouch, near marsh farm, sth woodham ferrers.

foxes are everywhere in Essex, they tend to have regular routes they follow, make sure you are concealed and upwind, however they usually appear at night, so think about lighting.

The thing with wildlife is they don't appear or pose to order, you need to be patient and quiet.

Essex Wildlife Trust look after a lot of reserves in the county - http://www.essexwt.org.uk/

You aren't that far from the RSPB reserve at Rainham Marshes. The photographic problem with all reserves is you will need a big lens to get good shots of the wildlife.

Hey Chris,

I'm in Pitsea so pretty much the same area - do you drive? Wat Tyler is 'okay' better in the spring / summer, same for Rainham Marshes (pretty bleak this time of year) If you have transport I highly recommend Lee Valley at any time of the year - fishers green nr waltham abbey. Free to park and as much to see / photograph / walk as you like, we have spent literally days there.

Weald Park nr Brentwood is pretty good once you get up into the woods but again spring summer is best, Thorndon is another one close to you but again it's a woodland so variety is 'challenging' to say the least.

Oh nice pointers here. Thank you very much. Ill go and check these out and see what I can capture. Appreciate it!

Don't forget Epping Forrest. Good for deer.
