I've recently purchased a 7D, really loving it.
I have the 50mm F1.4 and the 17-85mm EFS IS.
Am I best sticking with the 17-85mm for my wide angle shots or best investing in a good wide angle ?
I have the 10-22 and its opened up a whole new world for me, not the easiest lens to get to grips with but when you do the images blow you away. Now wouldn't be without an UWA
If you want ultra wide for landscapes your 7D would love you forever if you married it to a Canon 10-22.
Fantastic lens and unless I one day decide to go full frame, I will never part company with mine.
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 will work well with the 7D. It is sharper and faster than the Canon but you lose zoom range. On an 18MP sensor you will notice the extra resolution this lens offers.
Trouble with the Sigmas is they are inconsistent. Especially the earlier ones. If you get a good un, you get a very good un that'll rival the Canon 10-22. Some however are a bit on the soft side. If poss, test before you buy. I have one and I'm v happy with it.
I much prefer the Sigma 12-24mm, I find it equally as good on my FF camera as I do the 50D & 10D IR. Tried the 10-20 but was very disappointed with the image quality compared to the 12-24mm. The added bonus is it can be used on a FF sensor which you cant on the 10-20mm
My vote goes for Tokina. They feel great, are rock solid, very sharp, and still work well on full frame (12-24 from 18-19mm, 11-16 from 14-15mm which is really wide).
