I shot a wedding for a friend a couple of weeks ago and I've got all the pictures basically processed (exposure, contrast, etc etc). The thing is there's a couple of LR presets that I like which I want to use to give the pictures a sense of constancy and style to them.

Now I've limited experience with presets and LR, so I'm wondering what the best way to go about applying them is. I realise you cant use a single unaltered preset for every picture (if only!) so I downloaded a fader plug-in which allows you to vary the strength of the preset for each picture. The only thing is that this is time consuming as you have to do it for each individual picture.

So does anyone here use presets for weddings and if so any tips and pointers would be really welcome.

I use one or two presets for toning a few images, I always make a virtual copy and tone those, giving the B+G the option of the original and the toned.

I use a preset on import which does some basic stuff then go through each image and apply any presets I want, which isn't very often now if I'm honest.

You could re-import all images and apply the preset then? Don't think you can sync presets with photos like you can with the individual settings. Ok if your preset has no "auto" settings in it then you can sync all.

You can put a preset on each individual image if you want to.

Just go into the develop module and click the one you want.

I put the ones I want into user presets so they are together.

Thanks for the replies.

What I ended up doing was finding a particular preset that I liked, tweaked it to make it somewhat more subtle, and then saved it as a new preset. I applied it to all the images and then made small adjustments to each image as needed. It's given me the consistency and style that I was after, and having given the couple a sneak peek at a few images they like it too (thank goodness!!)

I think next time I'll do the preset at the very start and see how that works out.

Best bet is to apply the preset to all images, THEN go through and tweak. If you do as you did, you'll find the preset might undo your adjustments.
Another approach would be, if you have made only crop, rotation and exposure/white balance tweaks, to apply the preset to one image, then Ctrl+Shift+C to copy the settings. Deselect the items that you know you have adjusted already, then Ctrl+A (Select all in Grid module) and Ctrl+Shift+V to paste settings. That way you won't nuke anything you've already tweaked.
