Edit My Images
No
I normally do it myself but want to get this done by someone else now. I figured my strength is in shooting and building business.
Where does one find a competent photo editor who truely understands what it takes to create commercially viable images? And not just use some dodgy photo blending / editing website!

I just had a quick Google for photo retouching. Seemed to find a bunch of services.

I'll help you out. start a conversation with me. Click my name and so on.

I am beginning to realise there are very few people who understand what interior design / architectural photography actually is.

I talked to this guy(private message). He's phishing for pictures for his own use. Edit: He doesn't have his own pictures. He's not photographing and looking for someone to edit. He's keeps asking for more example pictures. " I need jpg" files of your work. More and more. And refuses to give one example file e.g. raw files he says he has, of his own work. I'm thinking he doesn't have any pictures he wants to edit.

P.s did not ask for money once.

LOL.
I did not ask for money no, because I am not a scammer.
I asked if you had any examples you can show me, so I know you can actually do the work..
Chill brother, your attitude is aggressive and way off.
I asked for interior design shots you may have edited, you sent me a picture of a glass with water splashing around in it and expected me to give you a job based on this?
Have a good day. No hard feelings.

You turn and twist my words.

I offered my help for free. I did not ask for money from user "mrk123."

But instead of getting down to it. He kept asking for specific jpg's. Refused to talk even about what he wanted done to his own pictures. Refused? He responded by asking me if I had personality problems.

I made an effort he to warn other users that's he on a phishing trip.

I guess people will make their own minds up. The OP was asking how to find a contractor, not a volunteer, so it's up to people to sort their own business out privately.
Let's keep any disagreements off TP please.
If there is anything unprofessional going on, or dubious, well enough has been said in any case. However I've not seen clear evidence of that and frankly don't want to because I don't want anything libellous on this site.

Exactly.
Today has been insightful.
You can simply not find anyone who is going to deliver for less than £15/20 an image. I had some samples done from people on people per hour, most were shocking. No care, no colour correction, wonky lines, no clone tool to remove marks.. I am going to do it myself.

To be honest I would have thought that £15/20 per image is reasonable if they did a good job, just judging by how long I spend on a wildlife image

Yeah I know full well, a good interior design / architectureal image can take a good 30 mins to 1 hour minimum if you want the absolute best results (this does not include 100mph real estate jobs).
I just don't enjoy sitting at a computer for long!

Your best bet is training and employing someone local, like a family member. Maybe someone with a baby and off work. I know this doesn't great ... But that would at least be workable

You can lead a horse to water but....
That would be a task and half!
I think there's an element of innate understanding of certain things, anyone who is capable of doing this will not be sat around looking for work.

Frankly speaking, this is also a very broad topic , there is no one definition of what architectural photography/interior design is. As to my understanding the best person would be the one who understands architecture itself but then architects are usually not the best at it as it is only a supportive medium for them. Being originally trained as an architect I was always using photography during the entire process, starting from taking pictures of models, but then they were becoming a separate 'entity' when I was playing with light etc. becoming more fine art photography. Was trying all possible approaches to 'architectural' photography.
Generally you need to know what is it for.A magazine will be happy with different sort of photography than an architect who wants to promote his project and then it again depends on the architect, what does he /she want to show within a project etc. etc.
Editing architectural shots can take forever, depends on what you really expect.

Real estate photography is a different realm and not my favourite one.

That's why having a good conversation before is a crucial one.

Have you thought about putting an image up, for people to have a go at editing it, to your spec'?
You might find someone who is happy to help you for a few quid :)

I've used retouchers occasionally but not for interiors work.

Basic competent cleanup: expect £5/image,
Quality work: £20/image
High end beauty work: £100/image

If you want to post your own before & after images which show the standard you're looking for then I can probably suggest someone.
