Best way to connect monitor.

Which would be best for connecting Monitor to Computer, I have 3 choices, VGA, HDMI, or DVI.
 
If your monitor has built in speakers then only HDMI will do.
 
HDMI carries sound as well, DVI does not.

Dual like DVI gives more resolution.

I think, I am no techo geek.
 
One of my monitors - a Samsung- has evidence and 2 hdmi's. The picture quality varies between the 2 hdmi's so it is worth checking the specs if you have more than one.

That sounds more like an odd bug or hardware issue. A HDMI signal of the same spec to the same screen I'd expect to be identical.

To answer the op I'd go dvi if you have dual link.
 
Thanks guys, It looka as if HDMI is my best bet, the monitor has built in speakers, saves another cable. I shall source a cable tomorrow when i'm in town.
 
Just bought a Benq monitor and was adviced to use a HDMI cable
 
Indeed and not just from the source, many screens can only do TV resolutions on hdmi as well. Depending on the edid information it returns. Of those three I would use DVI. But all mine are just DisplayPort nowadays.

Just make sure it's a cheap one, don't fall for the "ultra premium, gold plated extra magic wonder cable" version shops will try to sell for £50. It won't perform any better than the £5 one I picked up in asda yesterday. As long as it's not of a dodgy construction the only thing that matters is length.

I was going to look there as we have a big shop on this morning. Asda is first port of call.:)

And make certain the monitor can run at its native resolution via hdmi. Not all can.
 
I will have to look up the max res. the choices are as stated, VGA, HDMI or DVI,

At the 12 Gbps you need for UltraHD, it will.

The major issue with HDMI is that the manufacturers have been stopped from putting the version number on equipment. They now use a features table. For 3840x2160p100 (UltraHD) the manufacturing tolerances for the cable are tiny.

Just using cheap one from Aldi, seems to work fine, dont think the monitor is capabile of Ultra HD anyway.:)

still no need to spend over £10 on an HDMI lead. unless running long distance.
