Best way to clean my Tripod

Mines been to the beach loads of times, clean it with nothing more than a damp rag and sometimes it just drys in the back of the car and hoover up the sand later. Still looks like new ;)

Fresh water bath.....................

Fresh water rinse and a soft brush to shift the sand I would suggest. Be careful not to work any sand grains further into the joints.
Then a complete dry out in the airing cupboard for a day or so.
Test it and look out for any graunching if there's any sand left in there. Repeat as necessary.
Don't recommend any lubricants or water repellents at all in this situation.

if you love your tripod, a warm bath, camomile bath oils, some light jazz and some scented candles and then dried with a lambswool towel.

It does sound as though i have sand in the lower leg and its not as smooth as it was. I will treat it to a warm bath tomorrow and see what that does

Though it sounds like tough love, you may want to consider a cool to cold bath as warm water may be more likely to dissolve anything like salt crystals allowing them to creep further inside any joins or pivots and I think the warmth can be like a catalyst to kick off corrosion.
That advice was given to me in relation to cleaning bicycles and motorbikes of the salt and grit that gets sprayed up during winter.

Strip it down and clean it if you want to, it's a simple job to do.

wd40
rinse, and wash it down, getting rid of all the muck and slutch
then spray wd 40 on to a cloth or kitchen roll, and wipe all over the legs and locks. i leave it for a minute than do it again and then move the legs up and down a few times to allow it to penetrate the inside of the tubes
this was one of the tips on the karl taylor photography website
try this link should hopefully get you to all the video links

Contender for post of the year. Gotta just love this.

Wipe with damp cloth + liberal application of WD-40 (artificial fish-oil, apparently - who'd have thought?).
