Just wondered how you guys carry your big lenses about for the day ?

i remember seeing a picture of a sholder strap with a thread at the end which screws into the mount on the lens.

anyone know how reliable these are ? and what they are called

cheers

buy a bigger kit bag...

assuming it's your 70-200, just use the camera strap, it's fine... If you don't have a flash on your camera, put it over your shoulder hot shoe in to your hip, and the lens neatly goes just behind your bum, rather than sticking out the side :)

Do a search for Black Rapid on the speedgraphic.co.uk site

My 70-200 goes into a lowepro lens case very nicely (and then attaches to my toploader)

I bodged one of those myself at Silverstone earlier this year - took my laptop bag shoulder strap off the laptop bag and clipped both ends to the d ring on the underside of the Manfrotto quick release plate on my 70-200.

Worked just fine for the day and meant I could swap to the fisheye (that was in my pocket) when I needed it.

Next time I'll remember to take my tog vest and lowepro bag though... I normally use a lowepro lens bag on a shoulder strap.

The only lens I have that doesn't fit in my bag is my 150-500 and that has its own bag with a strap. The lens itself also has a strap that loops through the tripod foot.

i thought about getting a strap for the lens bag but just think that black rapid idea is fantastic

That's a very nice harness, I'll have to get her one

sling it over your shoulder and march on, then all the P&S's and small lens bods can see your huge monster and suffer lens envy...........

Top tip though about the dodgy chinese harness..........
