No
I have one job a year (which is a charity job BTW) where I need a wireless connection. Up till now I have had a D2x with WT-1 which transfers the files, the customers can then quite happily look at the images and buy/not buy as they see fit.

I now have a D3 and a D300 (and a WT-1 unfortunately). Is there a way of shooting tethered by cable or whatever to transfer those files without ridiculously expensive WT-4?????

If it's anything like my 1D the software that came with it should have some form of software that will allow this! I can shoot through firewire or USB and store directly to hard disk, or to hard disk and card :)

Nikon Capture camera control, does it for a D70 & D200, its a simple USB > camera cable and the software to control it.
I use it sometimes for studio product, I dunno if it will work with a D3, but even if it doesn't, there must be the equivalent, it came with NikonCapture 4, and I reckon it ought to come with NX, but I dunno..
It is stand alone though, you don't need to use Nikon Capture 4 or NX to use it, but they might share information, like the NX updates to accomodate a D3 probably also tick the box for camera control.
