Best way from M25 to Portsmouth?

Will be coming past Heathrow on M25 tomorrow morning around 830am, should I head down M3 to Soton and across, or go the shorter way down A3, although this is a slower road and part is single carraigeway?

M3 is much faster in my experience.

Another vote for via the M3 from me.

A3 every time it will take you 50 mins from junction 10, by 9am the traffic should have cleared at Hindhead which is the only bit of single carriageway and 1 roundabout to navigate at Liphook.easy

M3 should save you 30-45 minutes in my experience (about 50 trips down A3 compared to 250 down the M3).
