Hi,

I'm looking for the EOS with best quality - I'll be buying used, for around £900 - so around $1300.

The contenders I have considered that seem to be around that price are:

EOS 5D Mk I (Used)
EOS 1D Mk II (Used)
EOS 50D (New)

Could anyone recommend one over the other? Or maybe any other Canon alternatives?

The most important feature for me is the image quality - so for example if I were to resize a picture from each camera down to 10 Megapixels, which one would have the least noise? And which cameras handle dynamic range better? E.g. for shots at noon with hard shadows.

I'm also curious about other differences between the cameras in case they make a difference - please feel free to mention any pro's and cons of any of them!

E.g. one thing which I've noticed which makes me tempted to buy a new 50D is the display - 3 inches, 1 Megapixel. Compare this to the 250k Pixels on the 1d Mk2 and 5D! (2 Inches and 2.5 Inches) - is this important??

Like I said, noise is my main concern but please do mention any other aspects which tend to be a big important factor!

Thanks!

Well, I would say that the rear LCD is definately not something that that should make the decision for you. What factors are important to you? Each camera has its merits, speed of the 1dMk2, Pixel count of 50D etc.

Personally, of the choises, I would have a 5D or 1D2, with the 5D being the best for noise control IMO.

(Mainly just bumping the thread for those more knowledgable)

Noise is definitely my main concern so the 5D it is - I was leaning towards it anyway but good to have opinions for it!
