Hello.
This seems more of a photography website than a video one..
But I'm hopeing I can ask.

I'm looking for a nice tripod to use with my Panasonic SD600 Camcorder, & my Skymax 70x20 Astronomical Binoculars.

I'd rather the tripod was under the £100 mark,
And the most important factor would be smoothness while panning.
So I guess I'll need the 'fluid head' types, I think they are called.

Heres what I'm torn between so far:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Velbon-2336...TF8&coliid=I2G3QAC8IPI93N&colid=37GOOM4QR4AZK

and

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hahnel-Tria...UTF8&coliid=IZNDEENM1M4FD&colid=37GOOM4QR4AZK

Any Idea if the Hahnel would be as smooth and sturdy as the Velbon?

Or alternatively, do you know other tripods that may fit the bill?

I'd rather a fairly light weight tripod (if that doesnt affect stability too much), and not too long when folded away also.

Thanks :)

Hi, and thanks for the speedy reply..

Tho I dont think these Redsnappers are the fluid type heads I was talking about.

They are also a fair deal pricier than the two tripods links I gave.
Hmm..
So what are the benefits of Redsnapper? and do they do fluid head models though?
thanks again

ah ok..
cool

build quality is always a good thing
thanks for the heads up.

Tho, Im not sure I would go for them, becasue I'm really looking for the fluid style head.

I wish I could make up my mind about those two in the links I sent..
I cant lol.

One is lighter and cheaper..
The other maybe slighty better quality tho.

No-one seems to know much abiut the Hahnel to give me any feedback tho..

If you can get to a shop that sells both it might be a good idea to check them out in person. Give them a good twist to see if you are likely to get any panning movement. Its so hard to choose one just looking at specs on a website! The redsnappers had some real good torsion resistance when I was checking them out with a canon xl2 attached (was over 3kg with some bits attached) and held up compared to some more expensive units.

Yes.. i think that might be the most sensible thing to do..
If I can find any local sellers that have both in stock.

It sounds like the Redsnappers are smooth even tho they are not fluid heads then?

Still, they are a bit pricey compared to those two I found, but nice to know about all the same :)

I've oredered the Velbon Dv-7000

will report back after trying it out
