Hi there I'm off to the north wales coast in a few weeks, and I would love to get some decent beach photos. What is the best time for me to go? (e.g, sunrise, day, sunset etc..) Thanks:)
 
Though will be going to wales, so hopefully there will be a sun!;):lol:
 
Personally I like the hour just after sunrise and the hour just before sunset but only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun
 
Agree with the time around sunset and sunrise.

A few other thoughts

Check out this - http://photoephemeris.com/ - free for a PC or Mac. It will pinpoint the direction of sunrise and sunset for any day, so you can plan where is the best place to be.

Check the tide tables so you can decide if a you want a shot at high or low tide, where possible.

An OS map is always useful to plan access to a location you want and as I know from the shots I have lost - give yourself plenty of time to get to the place you want and set up.

Keep an eye on the weather. I've lost potentially good shots by deciding there was not going to be any interest in the sunset only to have cloud patterns change.

Yeah agree with the above everyone wants that's hour of golden light, that really makes your photos stand out!
 
Depends...

As you may know, the sun goes around the earth (I believe the elephants push it along or something - a bit technical for me), so you get different light falling on different things at different times and this is all getting a bit obvious, really.

How long are you there for? If it's a few days, go out at different times, take shots, then do more at other times.

There is no`best` time, not really. You will find different things to photograph at different times.

I'd pitch a tent on the beach so's not to miss anything.
 
Where are you going to be based in North Wales, Issy, and when?
Maybe we will have something going on and you could join us.

Otherwise I will suggest some beachy places for you to look at.

David sadly I wont be there at that time, I will be there on the 1st-3rd July, and I will be at Harlech/Harlech Castle and near snowdonia. Shame as I would of loved to have come:thumbsdown:
