Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but looking to get the kids tablets for xmas and at a loss to what it the safest bet.
Seems to be so many mixed reviews on everyone on the market in regards to performance.
They will just be using it for the standard stuff like search online, play games and watch movies

Ideally don't want to spend to much so was looking at the fire 8 HD but they seem to be getting a lot of back feedback in regards to the performance and the fact its riddled with adds everywhere.
Similarly the cheaper samsung A and E tabs don't get great reviews.
I had seen the tesco huddle was back out but it went out of stock again before i could grab one.

The other option is to spend bit more and get a apple.
The iPad mini 2 32gb is £209 in argos, but i wasn't sure if that was getting abit old now?
Tescos also have refurb iPad 4 32gb for £249

any help would be appreciated.

My older kids, including myself and my wife, have a range of iPads from the earlier 2's, a mini and an air 2. The kids do play on them (not mine, I want to keep it free from dirty sticky fingers) so we bought the little ones (4,7 & 8) last year the Kindle fire tablet, which I think was like £35 or something. As far as content goes, the Apple stuff wins hands down, time after time. The kindles are always trying to sell to you and there's much less content so the kids get bored with them.

They're all 'safe' though as you can add parental controls to all of them. The Apple does seem easier to use but my thoughts are simple - how likely will it be that one of them will end up broken? Well it did happen with a £100 tesco hudle (was it hudl?) where one of the younger ones dropped it on the hard kitchen floor, smashing the screen. If that were a £300+ iPad I'd have gone nuts, so after this £35 seemed the best option, regardless of adverts and content!!!!

When they're slider and they can be trusted more then it's iPads all round for me!
