Best sub-£75 budget camera for kids

Hello all

First post on what looks like a great forum

I need to get a budget budget camera for the boss's kid

Needs to have a rechargeable battery and be pretty basic for a kid to use (~10yr old)

Recommendation appreciated

I would suggest the canon ixus, which is very easy to use but its a little over your budget there about £120. You may be able to get one cheeper or second hand though they are a great little camera.

Hi There,

This seems to be a good little camera for the money, complete with a memory card too.
Not had first hand experience of this camera but other BenQ stuff has been OK.

You nearly have enough change out of the £75 to buy this charger and

Nothing wrong with rechargeable AA batteries. They're cheap as chips, easily replaced, and you can use alkalines in an emergency. Proprietory Li-Ion batteries may last a bit longer but are usually pretty expensive and if your juice does run dry you can't readily grab another set of batteries, unless you've paid out a small fortune for a spare battery that most likely will not fit your next camera.

Do not get taken on by high megapixel claims. More megapixels usually mean inferior image quality, especially in anything less than bright daylight. I'd take a 7.1MP Canon over a 10.1MP BENQ any day of the week.

Most of my amazing shots (or at least I like to think so!) were taken using a humble Fuji A900 (£79) which can be purchased almost anywhere. I think you can get hold of it's slightly elder brother, the A800 and A700 for less money. I went for the '900 as it has a 4x optical lens. For a budget camera I think it does a pretty darn good job.
Yes, it does take a pair of AA batteries, hence you will need to invest in a rechargebale battery kit but will save you a lot of money in the long run rather than buy disposable batteries.
