Hi all

Can anyone suggest a good stock/sales library ?
Fotolibra was one suggested to me but they charge for submitting??? If they do their job as good as they say surely they wouldn't have to be charging the provider!?!?

Any one know of other stock libraries that are any good?

Bri

Avoid microstock libraries - they only make money for the owners - with very few exceptions. Look at Alamy & Photographers Direct to get you started.

Thanks for the info guys. I've just joined Alamy..

Do theyt have a image required update - 'photo call' (meaning what's wanted), and can you post linking direct to a particular photo call like Fotolibra??

Cheers

Thanks AWP. I'm just waiting for my first set to go through QC....

Sorry...I meant: Do Alamy notify you if any particular type of image is required by a client?
Cheers !!:)

no they don't - directly - but they have 'AlamyMeasures' where you can check which keywords customers have been searching under - for your images - or the whole of Alamy.

I notice Alamy state that image needs to be above 24MB in file size.

Uncompressed file sizes of more than 24MB. This means you should make your JPEG file from an 8 bit TIFF file that is at least 24MB. If you have a camera that is capable of producing an uncompressed 8 bit file of over 24MB then leave it that size.

Is this something they adhere to ?

Yew - it's only just been reduced to 24MB - was 48MB - you're still better supplying as 48MB - more markets available. Anything less than 24 is automatically rejected when you upload.

I think I will give them a try too

It takes time......lots of time. Be patient.

Charging to be on a stock library is one way of keeping out anyone that isn't really serious :)

Alamy guidelines are poorly expressed really. It would be simpler to suggest a minimum resolution of images as asking for a 24mb minimum TIFF when you wouldn't likely to be have a camera that saves as TIFF as they mostly save as RAW or JPG is a weird way of putting it.
