Best source for Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART?

Looking like Amazon for a UK retail model or DigitalRev for an import right now. Anyone know of any other good sources?
 
Yeah I'm erring on the side of just getting one from Amazon. Are Sigma still offering the 3 year warranty?

Buy one from Amazon and you have the piece of mind of probably the best most hassle free customer service on the planet. That way if you get a lemon you'll have no issues getting it sorted.

I'd highly recommend the Sigma dock as well (£40) as mine required different focus adjustment at different focal lengths. I could of got away with the same MFA on the body only say 95% accurate but with the dock its 100%.

Agreed on the customer service but you may find that Amazon supplied Sigma lens is sourced from Europe, not from Sigma UK. Sigma UK will not honour the 3 year warranty unless it's UK stock. Amazon have not mentioned the 3 year warranty anywhere on their webpage.

I've looked at the Sigma 35mm 1.4 and Canon 35mm f2 IS, leaning towards the Canon at the moment!
 
Ta for the Amazon tip - I'd get confirmation from them first that it'd be a proper UK retail model and would return it if it wasn't - ain't paying UK retail prices for an import!

The Canon you mention is a totally different lens to the Sigma - f/1.4 is a world away from f/2 and the quality isn't the same. The nearest equivalent Canon is the 35L f/1.4 but it's twice the price of the Sigma.

I've seen that but if you end up with a EU sourced one i'd send it back for a replacement! Thankfully Sigma only took a day to check my serial number when i registered mine with them via their webform (which was a UK lens from Amazon), all they need for warranty purposes now is a copy of the receipt if it ever needs to go back :).

Lenses purchased from third party sellers on Amazon (i.e not from Amazon directly) whether fulfilled by Amazon or not, will not be eligible for this extended warranty. Lenses purchased from EBay, whether listed as new or otherwise, will not be eligible for this extended warranty.

That's only third party sellers on Amazon. Direct from Amazon, you'll be fully covered.

That's not been the case in the past. Amazon UK has supplied EU sourced lens, Sigma turned the extended warranty down on them iirc.
 
As you say, that was the case when the thread was posted in 2011. The link I originally quoted does say to check with the retailer that it is a Sigma UK lens before buying, but totally agree that it is a pain when you're trying to buy.
