Prefer the live version of Black Night myself with copius amounts of feedback, its a bonus track on the CD version of Made In Japan along with a poor quality version of Speed King

Strange they have it superimposed on the In Rock cover seeing as it wasn't on any of the original vinyl albums

Love over Gold - Dire Straits

I'm sure I can come up with some more but brain not working at the moment  :bonk:

(Ok so not really a song, but love the music!)

Phantom of the opera - Iron Maiden

Also sprach Zarathustra - Richard Strauss http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyJwbwWg8uc (first two minutes or so)

Hmm PotO by Maiden......... yep that also gets my vote...... heard that in the Oval rockhouse, Norwich, the day before my Maths A level, and the opening night of the Iron Maiden World Tour, though they played that gig under the "Nodding donkeys".... didn't really have to worry about people making a noise and disturbiing me....couldn't hear for about a week....

Loving all the iron maiden shouts! Blackened by metallica, and also for whom the bell tolls both give me goose bumps!

How about this...KT Tunstall, playing solo, live. Records her own backing track (the process of which could be considered the intro?)...fabulous:

Master of Puppets - Metallica
Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden
Levon - Elton John

Unfinished Symapthy - Massive Attack.
Monkey Gone to Heaven - The Pixies
Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Killing Moon - Echo and The Bunnymen
Longview - Green Day
Town Called Malice - The Jam
The Healer - John Lee Hooker

How Soon is Now - The Smiths

Over the years, my taste in music has changed, not evolved, just changed.... and I am so surprised that I am going back to my rock roots .... but amongst all the changes, this has always been my fave intro

First time I heard this song was this morning and it reminded me of something else I hadn't heard for years and it's annoyed me all day. Finally found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKOjC33N0XQ.

Good spot John - I can see the similarity.

I think the intro's are one of the things that define The Smiths songs....on The Queen is Dead every single song has a great intro!!

As Johnny Marr says even people that don't like The Smiths admit How Soon is Now is pretty special.

I'm not a liker of The Smith's, for me, once the manic depressive starts singing the song's gonna go down hill big time, making the intro the only thing worth listening to.
I liked How soon is now, as the first time I heard it, it was a looped instrumental version for a Jeans advert. Love Spit Loves cover version from the film The Craft and subsequently the tv show Charmed is so much better vocally wise.
