I know that 99% of smartphone users would probably have ZERO interest in ever shooting RAW on their phone but I'm just wondering if anyone here DOES shoot raw?

There don't seem to be many camera apps yet with RAW/DNG support and I have downloaded a couple to try out.

The most promising looks like "Camera FV-5" and it costs £2.49 from the google play store (the free version only shoots jpeg). I think it only supports phones running Android v5 (L) and I'd imagine quite a lot of people are still running Android v4 (K).

Looks good if you have a phone that supports it, (not just the version of Andriod) there don't appear to be that many at the moment that will do all the app is offering.

"Currently the features described here are supported on the following devices at the beginning:
  • LG Nexus 5.
  • Motorola Nexus 6."
The explanation as to why some phone don't support all the features is:

"Camera FV-5 requires that the phone actually implements those features. Android 5 Lollipop (the OS) brings the possibility for manufacturers to implement those features, and applications to implement those. However, Google left all these features optional for manufacturers, and most of them that are currently updating their existing phones to Lollipop are not implementing them in order to rush an update to the market. From the equation, Camera FV-5 implements everything needed to use those features, Android Lollipop brings developers the possibility implement those features, but if you are not able to use them is because your manufacturer didn't actually implement their part on their devices: RAW support requires the manufacturer to update the camera driver (for instance)."

Whether future software updates from the phone manufacturers will include the implementation of these features would depend on demand from the users I guess.

pity fv5 only properly supports 2 handsets - including the one i have (nexus5) even though it is an old discontinued handset (got it 18 months ago) - i like the way the app focuses on photography instead of gimmicks like some apps - my pet hate are apps that offer sepia effects and fake lomo effects!

Had an update on my HTC one m9 that now allows me to shot raw with the default camera app, not really had a chance to play with it yet though

I shoot raw on my Lumia 930. Fantastic quality, saves in jpg and dng. Good profile for lightroom as well.
