Pretty sure now that this is a lens I want to own, but I'm having trouble finding one at a reasonable price.

Camera Price Buster suggest Jessops have them at £599..... they don't anymore. I have called them and they've all gone.

Next best is about £800, which I'd rather not pay.

I'm happy to buy a good secondhand one, so have been checking out Misfudsm, MPB and ffordes, but have yet to find one.

I'm not yet able to post in the 'Wanted' section here, so does anyone know of anywhere which may have either a good used example, or good prices on new? :)

Hi,

one on ebay ends in 3 hours from now.

HERE

Mike.

Yep, got one thanks. Just got to get out there and use it now!

See my post. Warehouse Express.

Is there any difference between the IF and non-IF versions? (Assuming there it it two versions and just different labels on the interwebs)

I've seen the IF versions between £525-625 used and the ones not labled IF are found at about £425-525!!!

Trying to convince myself this is better than buying a sigma 70-200mm plus a Tokina 300mm f2.8 (cheaper at least!!)

IF refers to "inner focus" where Sigma lenses are concerned, which basically means it doesn't act as a set of bellows sucking air (and dust) in and out. I couldn't tell you but my guess is all variants are "inner focusing" anyway and Sigma introduced the label as a marketing tool.

Sigma's abbriviations [sic] Someone at Sigma wants to get themselves a dictionary.
