Yes
after days of trying to choose a lens for my D60 I've decided to upgrade to a D90 first ,

best price i can find for the D90 with kit lens is £679 from simply electronics

has anyone dealt with simply electronics before ? are they reputable ?

also do you think the camera is a UK model ?

Anyone know of a better price or deal on the D90

sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance

best bet is to buy a D90 body and then decide on a "walkabout" lens

email "kerso" - he has given me the best price so far !!!

Hi i have had a lens from this company it was fine and a good price the only dispute i had was the time it took to come, it said it was in stock but i don't think it was any way it hasn't put me off i have ordered a 55mm from there

Try Camera Price Busters link cheapest is £604.99

Simply Electronics, read this HERE

That's for the body only with the kit lens it's £744, but would then come down to £684 when you factor in the Nikon cash back.

I'd email Simply asking if you can use the Nikon cashback.

EDIT: I didn't see TG's post before writing this, looks like you won't get the cashback if you use Simply.

i reckon i'll get the kit lens for now

upgrading the camera will stretch my funds so i reckon kit lens will be cheaper option for now

thanks for your reply :)

There's £60 cashback on UK bought D90's at the moment as well :)

Not sure if Kerso's would be eligable or not though

emailed him about this

replied..........................."probably not".....

further to my PM [kerso 's email] ..... get the body and add

18-55mm AF-S DX *VR* from Bristol Cameras at £105 gives you a great walkabout combination

my future goal.........when Canon film equipment sells........

looks like a good deal £60 cash back and two year warranty?

still cannot beat kerso - solid reputation - at £550
+ 18-55 VR from Parks at £100
ps - changed my mind about the Bristol Cameras recommendation.....

FWIT - Ken Rockwell (c)
"but if you're looking closely, the 18-105mm is Nikon's fuzziest lens in the corners at 18mm. Even the $100 18-55mm is better. "

cheers

D90 now ordered , thanks everyone who took the time to reply

ok - give ! ..where from ?

and what lens - as I'm on this route too.............

Is that Kerso the eBay seller? He's not advertising any D90s at the moment.

RGB photo are out of stock.. maybe mrgas bought their last one!

However, I've just been on Amazon. Amazon themselves are doing the D90 for £749.50, but Ifozi (Amazon Marketplace seller) is selling it for just £729.99. With the £60 cashback, that's the best deal I can find (has to be UK stock though - not sure if Ifozi's is). I found one or two unfavourable mentions of Ifozi on the Amateur Photography forum though. Anyone here any experience of Ifozi?

I stay away from eBay for big money purchases - I just dont trust it - had no probs with small stuff like filters

Ian Kerr = kerso = an Advertiser on this forum - great reputation ....

see above - I use Parks Cameras

Park Cameras price is £789.99 :|

I just ordered my D90 from Amazon for £749.50. Taking Nikon's £60 cashback offer into account, that's er... *thinking*...um... £689.50. Got to be content with that :)

If you have just looked at Kerso's ebay site then he sells much more than is one there.

Send Kerso a private message, or email him at kerso1123@msn.com

Apologies if you have already done this

Too late for me Dan, but thanks. I'm happy I got a good price from a well-known reputable (to me, so far!) seller.

Is Kerso's stuff all brand-new UK stock, cheaper than Amazon and eligibubble for the £60 cashback and 2 year warranty? If it is, I guess I should be slightly less content than I am.

Some of Kerso's stuff is from America and he gives 1 year warranty but because I wasn't sure about the £60 cashback I also opted for a uk supplier a couple of weeks ago for my D90 upgrade.

Anything like lenses/flashguns or where the £60 cashback wasn't being offered etc I wouldn't think twice as I'm sure everyone else would also agree with that one here.

Enjoy the D90, it's a very nice peice of kit and a significant jump from the D60.

although I didn't get chance to get confirmation off Kerso , I wasn't sure that the free two year warranty would apply with a purchase from him . for me 2 years warranty is worth a few quid in itself,

to be fair as soon as i decided to go for a D90 I ordered it straight away so probably didn't give Kerso enough time to reply and confirm the warranty

in case anyone else is browsing this thread.....

my comment about using Parks was for the 18-55 AF-S DX *VR* @£100

and the D90 body was from "kerso".... £550 + £100 [agreed 1year warranty]

I have the D40 kit 18-55 AF-S DX GII-----and now the Sigma 17-70 Macro

I'll do some at 17, both at 18, both at 55 and 70 for you

later....john

ps ----Ken Rockwell gave "glowing" reports on the Nikon 18-55 *VR* which I was going to get for the D90
however Derek's 17-70 gives me a chance to see if 17mm is OK for my landscapes, as any WA is too damn expensive for my pension.....:bang:

Just to say the camera arrived today

Absolute first class service from RGB photo

Got mine this morning at 10:15 from Amazon. I only ordered it at 12:30 yesterday! Super service :D

My very first impression was my surprise at the weight, not having even handled a DSLR before (I have an old Canon AE1 and a Canon A620 compact) It feels solid, chunky and well-built. I like how it feels in my hands :)

I went into town yesterday to buy a case and a UV filter for it and snapped away all day, just getting the hang of it. I just stuck it on Auto and it seems impossible to get a duff shot whatever the situation. Trouble is, my fingers began to hurt, from holding it so long!

I'm amazed at the quality of night shots at ISO3200 without flash. I was shooting in the street last night, a fair way from the street-lights and the results are very smooth with little noise.

I've been going through Ken Rockwell's guide to learn my way around it. There's a lot of info to take in, but it's all very straightforward and it's getting to be more intuitive as I play with it.

I'm glad I chose the D90. It's a cracker :D
