Following a recent house move, I'm wanting to set up a decent home office. I'm looking for a couple of desks, filing cabinet, chairs, wall cabinets etc.

Does anyone have personal experience of doing the same that can recommend somewhere that sells good quality office furniture?

Thanks in advance for your help

Depending how urgent your need you might consider any local auction houses, often bargains to be had from the misfortune of others.

Google second hand office furniture. We have some very expensive extremely comfy office chairs that didn't cost too much.

My office/room at home is a paean to Ikea, so it is the Swedish retailer for me. Cost, style and utility all 100%.

Anthony.

Ikea make very good office furniture and have a decent range of very affordable stuff.

Amazon?

Another vote for the second hand shops.

Offices often throw out perfectly good furniture because they are refurbishing or just want a change.

There are second hand office furniture shops all over and as Dale has mentioned you can get a good deal.

Don't know if carpet tiles are OK with you for your office, but if they are have a look for those in the same shops.

I notice you are in MK - check out the age concern furniture warehouse on kiln farm (I think) , they get a lot of second user office furniture from office refits etc (at least they used to when i was based in mk a few years back)

I agree on the Ikea, amazon, S/H route - office furniture is mainly just normal furniture with the word "office" in front of it which for some reason seems to entitle the supplier/retailer to increase the price by 400%

Not always, we have some desks with 25mm thick tops.

Our office furniture is much stronger than home stuff. Small things are different, but adds to the strength.

So do I - at home.

And that is on a piece of cheap home furniture?

Probably the back door of Marsham Street, London SW1P ... tell 'em Alan Johnson sent you!

Yup - certainly wasn't "office" furniture! I wouldn't say it was cheap as such, for what it is (chipboard) but be honest - office furniture (when sold as such) is overpriced.

Have a look on the IKEA: Home Office website to get a idea of what you want before a visit. Sometimes you can get lost in there with the one way system!!

Another vote for IKEA......

Mod message No selling outside the classifieds please.
