When I have my last Nikon the best purchase I ever made was the remote trigger, I can not remember the number of times that I have been able to set up a shot and just fire away from a safe distance.

Anyone got a genius little gadget that they can't live without?
 
I have a little lamp on a head strap which i use when i am taking shots in the dark as it leaves both hands free. Also allows me to check for dog poop in the park when setting up for fireworks!
 
Hotshoe level, keeps wonky horizons at bay

Black Rapid strap - suits how I like to carry my camera (strap across my chest with camera hanging behing my 'butt')... and much easier to get a quick snap without contorting my body to get the strap off :).
 
Black Rapid RS-7 strap. It has allowed me to carry my camera for longer and more conveniently leaving my hands free to pick up one of my twins or whatever. I keep my phone in it too which rocks because it is always near by and prevents me from suffering bulging pockets (ooh err misses).
