Any opinions on the best inkjet paper to use for printing.

Best for B&W?
Best for landscape?
Best for portrait?

I know an inkjet is probably not the best for photos, but it's only for my own pleasure.

A good injet printer can produce excellent results. It just depends on how much you spend.

As far as paper is concerned there are as many opinions as there are papers on the market. You'll probably find people on this site with there own views,as which is the best.

It also depends to some extent as to what printer you have and the type of work you want to produce. Personally for a good paper for both B&W and colour I find the Ilford Gallerie Pearl to be to my liking.

Several manufacturers do trial packs with a couple of sheets of each surface they do. It sometimes a good idea to try different surfaces this way.

As a start I'd begin with a paper from the printer manufacturers line, and the try others and see what you prefer.

try the paper that your printer manufacturer makes.

illford and kodak also make very nice paper

what is really important is you use the correct settings as recomended by the paper manufacturer, illford have the recomended settings on their website, others supply setting with the paper

Thanks Chappers, I will look into the trial packs, also pick up some Ilford Gallerie Pearl, and thanks Gary, never knew about particular settings for paper. It's a Brother Inkjet so will look at their website too and see if they have any recommendations.

Ilford Gallerie gets my vote, picked up 10 boxes for a great price. Dotn print on anything else. I use a Canon iP4700 with a cityinks CIS :)

best paper I've found is epsons traditional photo paper which would suit all those types.

I use an epson R2400 with a fotospeed CIS (I do all my own profiles)

Thanks for the info guys, going to Park Cameras sometime soon so will have a look at what they stock. Just reading an article on Epson traditional in B&W magazine - might try that first. Cheers

I'm using Lyson Ink & Paper with Atmos Profile & very happy chapie as I now have wonderful results & money in my pocket

I use Ilford Gallerie Pearl which I buy from 7 Day Shop in A3 & 4, both pearl and glossy. Used with a Canon Pro 9000 printer, it's difficult to tell the difference from a wet process print.

Is Epson premium gloss any good ? they doing a bogof at the moment at premier ink supplies 12 quid for 40 sheets.

We use ilford galerie classic pearl too, both for training and my work.

It's great with the old HP 59 grey ink on the old 7760 printers for fab bromide-like mono prints
