Best option for convering D800 raw files?

Hi all
Not sure which option to go for with converting D800 raw FILES
Should i upgrade my lightroom to 4 or just get Nikon’s Capture NX
I recentley changed to a Mac so not a lot of files on my lightroom or harddrive

Have Adobe catered for D800 RAW files yet? I havent found anything yet.

At present I am using a 60 trial of Capture NX which hopefully will be enough time for Adobe to bring out an update for my Photoshop CS 5.5.

You can do basic editing and conversion to other formats in View NX2 which came with your camera.

If you'd bought the E version of the D800 you'd have got Capture NX2 for free

Adobe Camera Raw has just had an update to be able to read the RAW files of, amongst others, the D800 and the D800E if anyone has Photoshop CS5 and/or Elements 10.

I thought Adobe may have kept compatibility with the new cameras for the new version of ACR that will come with CS6, so well done to them for getting another update to ACR before that happens.

Martin,

Don't have the D800 so no specific hands-on with that body but I use it a lot with my D300. The latest CNX2 has some tweaks specifically for the D800. There should be a trial version on the disc that came with your camera so fire it up and try it out ... then tell us what you think
