What's the general advice here: I typically us Tv at around 1/250 with Ai servo and a manual at spot.

Recently got a 5d3 which has a lot more settings to play with, any further advice?

Depends what you are trying to do, I'd avoid using spot for track work, single point with expansion is a better option. AF cases depend on what you want to do but I've found 3 usually works fine for what I want. As for TV and servo that's fine... The 5d3 gives you epic detail, but the loss of the crop factor is noticeable when you need range :-/ still wouldn't go back to crop until the image quality closes up.

Have look at the link, it explains all about the different autofocus setting on your camera.

Personally use AV servo, single autofocus point which I adjust depending on where I want to focus on the action, with autofocus expansion set to 13 points around the autofocus point (custom settings) and use either AV or TV depending on the situation for example AV for head-on shots adjusting the settings to achieve the shot I want which depends on the speed of the subject moving towards you.
