Hi all,

and, happy new year!

First post on here so here goes..

I've just started a new job as a photographer producing 360 images of telecoms components. I'm using a Canon 5d Mark III with a Canon 24 - 105mm lens. I have a 3 light strobe setup and turntable. I have been tasked with finding a similar setup for other sites for 5000 Euros or under. The setup must also be easy to use so that, a photographer with only a small amount of experience, could use with a few days training.

With the allocated budget, the Canon5d is obviously not viable. Can anybody suggest a less expensive alternative that will provide good quality images. The products I photograph may vary in size as well, from small components to large cabinets.

Many thanks guys for your help

Hang on while I grab a chair and popcorn, this should be fun

:)

Any suggestions??
Not really, for non-expert users I would have thought you could do worse than continuous lighting and a decent mobile phone.

The thing is that we get quite a few threads like this on here and sooner or later the pro's will turn up moaning that the world owes them a living and that by giving the work to "a photographer with only a small amount of experience .. with a few days training " you are doing them out of a job. Personally I don't think it will be long before this sort of thing is almost entirely automated and you job is just to choose an appropriate style and may be position some lighting.

I had thought about mobile phones. The attached image is the kind of thing that is required. I'd imagine a decent mobile could get that quality. Phones will probably do most of this kind of stuff anyway, they even make movies on em these days!

Unfortunately, this is what is happening to photography and video across the board. Any video work that I do is now very undervalued because people think you can simply press a button and it edits itself.
