Best free or less than $30 FTP loader?

What do you mean by security ? There's a couple of different implementations of encrypted FTP transfer SFTP and FTPS (One is encrypted within the protocol and the other has the comms encrypted with SSL, sorry I can't remember which is which). There are free clients available that will handle this, if that's what you're meaning.

The secure options encrypt the actual file transfer between client and server. The protocol is considerably more complicated. However, this does require a suitable server that supports the protocol and they are actually even more expensive to setup, run and maintain as the owner must have usable and valid site server certificates etc. I know of a number of environments within which this sort of technology is used, but they are all transferring either confidential or detailed transactional clear text information through the public network, so the additional encryptions involved protect that data.

OK, so for the purposes of my transfer, the filezilla security is fine and more than adequate.

I would expect so. Equally, it's quite possible/probable that your hosting provider doesn't offer a secured FTP anyway.

Glad to hear it, and that it's working well

I'm a FireFTP afficianado - why install extra programs when you can do it all with a Firefox Add-on? :)
