Hello all,

I have bought a film camera:shrug::shrug: and need some film for my daughter to use for her A level art project.

Will be mainly portraits and some design stuff both colour and B&W.

Question is what type should I get and where is best place?

Thanks for any guidance

Cheers

Rob

Colour negative for colour is probably best - it offers the most latitude and flexibility. For B&W, consider getting a C41 B&W film - these are film emulsions that are processed in colour chemistry but give B&W negatives. This means they can be processed anywhere that processes consumer film, rather than the niche places that also process B&W with proper B&W developers.

For portraits, Kodak Portra 400 is an absolutely superb film. A cheaper alternative is Fujifilm Superia 400, although Portra is in a league above anything else on the market at the moment. For the C41 B&W, look at Fujifilm Neopan 400 CN, Ilford XP2 Super and Kodak BW400 CN.

Lots of abbreviations, short hand and technical jargon. Let me know if you didn't understand parts of my post and I'll be more than happy to clarify :)
