best / fast compact flash cards for my d100

Hello,

which are the best / fast data transfer for taking photo's

i have just got a 8gb 133x kingston card and sometimes
when i take a shot i have to wait for it to transfer / egg timer

are some better than others?

Do you know if your camera has been upgraded to FAT32? This was part of the 2.0 firmware update. If it hasn't then the camera will struggle with anything much over a 2gb card, but even with the upgrade I believe 4gb cards to be about the biggest that will work properly with the D100.

what do you have in your camera's????
 
TBH the D100 is a bit of a dinosaur in todays terms, and whilst it is still capable of good images the power of it's outdated processor lets it down.

You can probably use any respectable speed CF card in the camera without a significant data bottleneck being caused by the CF card. What will be causing the camera to slow down will be the relatively slow processor (by todays standards) and the memory size of the buffer.
 
Funnily enough I recently bought an 8Gig Kingston 133 card for my D100 and noticed it doesn't quite work the same as the 4Gb Kingston 133.

I don't think the camera can cope with more than 4 Gigs. I shoot RAW and then process on a computer. So the processor is taken right out of the process. :)
 
hmm thats interesting. An 8 gb cards works in a D100, yet the D1X won't accept cards over 2 gb. :thinking: Similar age aren't they? 2001 and 2002?

Don't know how old mine is. Only had it since March 2009. It's got firmware V2.00 though. When I say 8 gig works, it shows as having less available capacity than 4 gig. 4 gig card fits ~400 RAW images whereas the 8 gig shows 350 left when empty.

I guess I'll be using the 8 gig for a memory stick until I get a more modern camera. :D
