I have a D50 and D2x but want something that if out with me mates or general family stuff I can use and slip in my pocket, image quality is most important, shutter lag must be low, quick start time and good in low light conditions like pubs and clubs.

Any suggestions? Currently thought about Ixus 90IS, Nikon S560 or Ricoh R7/8 but still reading the reviews so these may not be suitable for me.

Having a similar problem ppp, want to get something for my wife but the compact market is a minefield with so many suppliers.

The Fujifilm FD100 got some good reviews and I've seen it for around the £160 mark, but did wonder if I should stick with a brand I know, Nikon.

Look forward to finding out what you get and others recommendations.

I'm looking at an IXUS 90IS for that sort of thing (or maybe a G9, but that is more expensive)

Olympus SW Range for me,

Waterproof (and beer proof etc), drop proof, Scratch resistant, non protruding lens (always worthwhile in clubs if there's a chance it will get knocked)

Note Chillis signature.....

I'd vote for the IXUS range, never had problems with them.

Yep another Canon IXUS fan here. Well recommended - the Ixus 85 is just under budget, the Ixus 90 is just over your budget on Amazon.

How is the image quality on the Ixus' do they suffer from noise or lag?

Going for the Ixus 90 IS seems the best option for the budget
