Best Compact Flash Memory Card

At the moment I ony have a 1gb compact flash memory card which up till now has done me ok.

However next week I am off to Italy to a wedding and am anticipating taking lots of pictures while we are away so I think it's time to get a couple more memory cards. I need some for the Talk Photography Big cats shoot in August anyway

What would people say are the best memory cards to get? I was thinking of getting a couple of either 4gb or 8gb cards is there are a particular brand that is favoured?

Anyone know of any good deals out there at the moment?

7dayshop are usually pretty good on the prices, i use Sandisk extreme III, I use 2gb and 4gb atm as id rather not loose 8gb of photos if the card fries, if you really need the insane speed you can get the extreme IV ones which give 45mbs write speed but are also quite expensive

I use Sandisk cards aswell, have 2gb and 4gb versions for the reasons stated above. Good cards - had no probs so far (thats asking for it eh??)

Yet another vote for Sandisk here. I came to the conclusion that the Extreme III ones were probably the best value. I didn't see a lot of benefit from going to the Extreme IV but did notice a slight increase over the Ultra II's.

Whatever you do, get them from a reliable source, 7dayshop or play.com etc. NEVER buy them from evilbay... too many fakes around.

Another vote for Sandisk Extreme III. Fast and reliable.

Buy from a reputable online store (7dayshop.com where I get mine from), not eBay.

Another vote here for the Sandisk Extreme range, I've used III's compact flash and SD's. They are my first choice every time. Usually get them from www.play.com, most recently got an SDHC from Amazon without problems. Avoid the eBay sellers, I used them for my first compact flash (I was young and naive!) and it turned out to be fake, there is a lot of info on the net of how to check, returned without a problem and used play ever since.
