I have been asked this question from another friend,i have suggested the nikon coolpix L330,any others would be great.:)

Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic.. not much between them at that price point. Just avoid any that are trying took hard, i.e. avoid the highest pixel counts and the longest zoom ranges.

Cheers for that,i hate when i get asked this question, there is just too much to look at,she is just after a full auto camera that gives nice images.:)

Had a look at some feedback on the fuji xf1

lens control error' and cannot shoot pictures. This is a well known fault and a quick google will reveal more. It is a real shame.:(

Agreed. I had one, it was awesome until it went wrong ( albeit under warranty ). Not sure I can trust Fuji again because of it which is a shame

I am reading all the feedback i can find on the Fuji F660 EXR,it seems not a bad choice, just a little over her budget, but a maybe.:)

Might not be possible, but if you could add a bit extra a 2nd hand sony rx100 mk1 would be the best option. They are going for around £140-£150 now. 2nd hand Fuji x10 is another cheaper option.

EDIT : Just seen that you got sorted!!

It already went wonky whilst in warranty so got it replaced. It has been relatively fine since but do want a better small camera when not using the DSLR.

Well there are lots to choose from.:)

could you stretch your budget slightly and go for an x10

What, 3 times as much new! That's one hell of a stretch ;)
Can you still buy them new??? since there is now 2 newer models. I assumed people would assume than I was referring to a used model, or did I misjudge that assumption? :-)

My other half recently bought a Panasonic Lumix LX5 from eBay for £94 plus postage and it's an excellent camera.

I love borrowing it.
Excellent IQ for a compact and shoots RAW too.
