I know this has been ask before but i feel my needs are slightly different, i find myself needing to use my mobility scooter for most outings now. Before getting one i felt a high percentage of users where dangerous due to the speed and the way they drove in pedestrian areas, i decided i would show more care and sense so as to avoid an accident.
Its nearly impossible though due to what i have heard referred to as a lack of spacial awareness on the part of pedestrians, they are fully committed to what they are doing on the phone or saying to a freind, i can understand this but when they suddenly move sideways into your path even if ime only doing 2mph it gets a bit close to an accident sometimes.
So back to the camera i need it to be handle bar mounted viewable results but most of the time the video would not be looked at, i have public liability insurance but would like a way to show if needed it wasnt my fault.

OK, but why do you want the "best" cheap GoPro type? How do you define "best", anyway? What specific features are you looking for? What is your budget?

Sorry i could have used a better word than best, more description would be something that stands a chance of lasting, i guess a fairly wide view, as i say unless something happened on my journey i would never look at the video more than to check it was still working, price i didn't put but due to my intended use for it i would like to be under £30, don't need wareproof as if its raining i use the car.

I do have 100% ignorance with them as i have never had any interest.

I kind of know what you mean but to play devils advocate pedestrian areas are shared spaces and complaining that someone has moved into your path of your mobility scooter isn't really a defence.
my honest answer is if you are travelling faster than a foot pedestrian and you are essentially driving something that could cause harm to a person if it hit them especially in the rear ankle are then then maybe you need to slow down in those areas.

I deleted my first reply ;) and will just say this.

I agree with every thing you say, not only is it a shared space but pedestrians have right of way, i am of the opinion some pedestrians have a death wish, i never exceed 2mph in the pedestrian areas slower if needed although the law allows me to travel at 4mph.

SJ4000, had one in daily use for years as a dashcam in the works van and it's never failed. My only gripe and it's a really small one is that it will only take 32gb cards (up to), that gives me 9 hours of recording on a card before it starts again at the beginning at 720p, half that if I go up to it's max of 1080p. Newer cameras will take bigger cards but I've not tried any of them.

I also have an SJ M5, basically an SJ4000 in a smaller package in my car which also just keeps working.

I should mention that the 7dayshop one gets a "Page not found" message when I click on the link from an e-mail to it.

There are a multitude of cameras built specifically for this purpose for both motorbikes and pushbikes. They’re a more suitable tool than a go pro clone. The way they’re designed to work is different. They’re designed for continuous loop recording, so only need attention if you have an incident, whereas using a ‘video camera’ means formatting the card regularly.

Some gopro clones have continuous loop recording. My 7dayshop waspcam does as does my jvc (now discontinued).
Battery life may be the problem, about 2hrs on 720p 60fps.

Not the case in SJCAM cameras, they have a specific dashcam mode that will loop forever as mine does.

I actually have in a box somewhere a proper dash cam that doesn't loop, it's why I bought the SJ4000 in the first place.
