Has anyone bought a camera (or anything else of high value) from Best Buy using Quidco? Their current price for a D700 is the same as that for a refurb when the Quidco cashback is taken into account, but after last week's fiasco with the 20% back offer I'm a tad reticent to get involved.

Any thoughts?

I bought a 5D MKII body when the cashback was 20% and it tracked fine (£340 Cashback), have purchased stuff before and it has paid out 2 months from purchase.

May be worth waiting a bit to see if the cashback rate jumps up again unlerss you really need the item now, as they have just increased the VAT to 20% today as well havent they (Was held at 17.5% till the ned of Jan).

I'm in no hurry, however they seem to be out of stock of most high-end cameras when the 20% offer is on....

Yes there seemed to be both stock issues and payment verification issues! Bit of a pain, but worth the hassle getting it sorted for the £340 cashback on the 5DII.

Just a pity they dont do any decent glass, could have done with 20% off a 70-200 2.8 II ;-)

Although the 5DII did come with the voucherbook in the box for discounts off some decent glass purchased UK retail between Feb/April so will be interesting to see if there are any offers on at Focus this year

My purchase of a GF1 tracked fine. But 'tracked' is no guarantee of payment with quidco.

I notice Carphone Warehouse have upgraded their city projections by circa £5m for the quarter stating the strong performance of their venture with Best Buy. It thus would seem their market ploy is working well!

Are things really that cheap at focus? I've never been....and thinking about going this year....

Last year they did some stonking prices on Refurb Canon stuff, and also the Canon 70-200 IS II was on sale at a crazy price, from what I remember it was cheaper there than it is now at retail, and it was brand new then.

Cant guarantee anything but I would think its well worth the waiti if you dont need an item right now,

I bought my camera from bestbuy as they were the cheapest at the time & as yet I haven't had any cashback, its been listed as tracked for ages.
Can't complain about their service as they were excellent with coms, cashback can never be guaranteed so don't make a purchase based on just that.

Wish i had seen this thread when offer was going :(

ordered a 7d when the 20% quidco was going
said it was in stock, and due to me on 18th january
then two days ago (after not received the camera for 2 weeks) they cancelled the order.

been in touch with customers services and they are worse than useless.

I tried to order a 5D MK II, but wouldn't accept my card for some reason. Many other people had same problem. I will never deal with BestBuy again. Terrible service.

Order the gear from Kerso instead.

I ordered a 7d from best buy on a Friday afternoon a couple of months ago, it arrived next day (Saturday morning) probably the best packaging I'd ever seen. Cash-back has been tracked in my topcashback account fingers crossed should be payable very soon. So I can only say Bestbuy served me well and I would definitely use them again.

I bought a Canon SX210 on Dec 3rd via Quidco. Still shows as tracked and I have a funny feeling I won't be seeing my cashback.

I had all but given up hope on my bestbuy cashback but there is hope after all, I purchased my camera on 24th Dec. This was my first purchase via quidco & I have never entered bank details, do they prompt you to do it?

Carole, I think it all goes into your quidco account, and then you can set up a bank account with them and transfer monies as and when you please....

I can't be 100% with that as i havent transferred any money myself yet! :)

Just had £148.50 Validated for my November 60D purchase so there is light at the end of the tunnel perhaps.

There was a 50 day returns policy over the christmas period so payments have been taking 3 months or so to be paid...... fingers crossed for you.

I purchased late November

Thanks for the replies Vishal & Pat. I'm keeping fingers crossed too Marc, infact I've already started planning what I can buy with it ;)

Message received from Quidco:

Hi,

Good news!! Best Buy have now approved all sales up to the 27 December 2010 - this means they will forward the cashback to your Quidco account during the month of March, payment will then be sent onto you in the following payment run.

Kind regards,

Quidco

Happy days!

Got the same message so hoping for my £148.50 soon.

Just found £105 Xmas money I had planked (put on a safe place) too so I can feel an "L" coming on. :D

I didnt receive that message, I bought my camera on the 24th Dec, is it worth contacting them or should I give it longer?

Perhaps give it a little longer. I made my purchase on Dec 3rd and I would imagine a lot of people have been in touch with Quidco asking what is going on.

Hi guys,

Sorry to be a dumb a**, but how this best buy and Quidco stuff works?

You register with either topcashback.co.uk or quidco, then when you click the link via either of these site you get free money  Bestbuy.co.uk offered up to 20% cashback when using topcashback and quidco over xmas.
