Can anyone give me advice on the best book to get for learning how to use Photoshop Elements 10.
I am a complete beginner with this software.
Two that I have been looking at are "The Missing Manual" and the "for Dummies".

Which one would be best, or does anyone know of anything better.

Thanks

get the scott kelby & matt klowkowski one... it assumes you know nothing at all and gives instructions like reading a recipe book (but his sense of humour is awful!)

Thanks, I'll keep that one in mind. Had a look on Amazon and the one for Elements 10 has not been released yet but is available for pre order.

It's been available for pre-order for quite some time now. I'm still waiting for it and I finished reading the Missing Manual (ordered at the same time) from cover to cover before Christmas. By the time Amazon get round to sending it out I'll be running Advanced Photoshop CS7 seminars... :)

I personally recommend the Missing Manual. While it doesn't go into every little detail of Elements it goes into most of it, and deals with Selections, Masking, and Layers in enough depth to get you up to speed very quickly. The author also contributes to the Elements Village forum, which you might like to join.

Thanks for the advice Garry. I had a quick look at the Elements Village site and it looks really good. Going out tonight (New Year celebrations) so might register tomorrow, think it will be very useful.

thanks Garry, I'm still waiting for mine too (but I have the Elements 8 book which I've found very useful)

I didn't know about Elements Village, so thanks for the heads up on that

You're both very welcome.

GRANTS TOOLS

Thanks for the reminder. I downloaded Grant's Tools some time ago and haven't got around to doing anything with it. Another good one is Elements+ which isn't free but opens up some of the more advanced parts of Photoshop that Adobe closed off, such as Smart Objects and Filters, curves and the channel mixer, quick mask mode, layer grouping, and batch-run scripts as an addition to Actions. I haven't used it much but it seems to me well worth the $12 price.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have ordered The Missing Manual from Amazon.
