Best Batteries For Speedlight ??

Hi guys I have just purchased a Yonguo 365ex. Bought some cheap batteries and had a play this afternoon. Seems ok but green pilot light now stays on or flash turns off. Im assuming the cheep batteries have run out ??

So my question is what are the best batteries for the speedlight ? Am I best going for rechargeables ??

Also how many flashes can I expect to get from a single set of batteries ?

Any other tips and advice for prelonging the battery life and getting best out of the flash??
 
Rechargeables, get a decent charger that'll run a discharge / refresh which will get the best life out of your batteries. There are many threads on this, but the best technology is from the rechargeables that you buy ready charged, started with Sanyo Eneloops, but many use it now. it improves the storage time and means you don't have to stay on top of a charge - use regime.
 
I use a Maha charger (just not Maha branded) from Maplin - http://www.maplin.co.uk/mh-c9000-wizardone-charger-analyser-217893 but your NiMH should be ok. However, if it's a 'fast' charger, the batteries may not last for as many charges as charging at a lower rate (which you can specify with the charger I have).

Also, the reason that rechargeables are better is that they give all their voltage until they are almost dead - still allowing the capacitors in the flash to charge properly.

Alkalines gradually reduce their voltage as they are depleted - so they may still have half their power left, but not enough voltage to charge the caps.

Not sure about the Eneloops, but batteries have capacity ratings - 2000maH/2400mah etc. Basically the bigger the number the more capacity it has.

Another vote for eneloop ones. I have the 2000 ones and have taken between 250 and 300 photos and the batteries are still going strong.
 
Eneloops,i have had mine for years well worth the money.:):thumbs:
 
I use these HERE as they are the highest MAH AA batteries i have seen, they are good value, and can also be purchased in smaller packs :)

Another thumbs up for me for the 7 day shop ones. Last a long time in my speedlights.
