Sorry a bit of a niche question, but I've got a Wimberly MH100 monogimbal head I want to use with my canon 500mm f4 IS II USM and Canon 7d mkII

Thing is I'm getting confused over how best to attach my kit to the Wimberley.

There are quite a few quick release plate to buy, there's a lot out there and I'm having trouble understanding which is compatible and/or best

I did also consider a replacement lens foot with arca-swiss fitting but while Jobu made one in the past it's no longer available

There's a Haogo LF-C468 (standard and low centre of gravity versions) but I've read that it doesn't work well with a gimbal

all in all this is proving very complicated :( so while I'll keep on looking if anyone can give any advice/thoughts/ suggetesd places to look would be appreciated, thanks!

Can’t vouch for any after market variants. As I’ve only used the Wimberley replacement feet. Which I’ve found to be top notch (though not the cheapest)

This is where I bought all of mine from.
And the one you want in particular:

Thanks, should've thoughtto check if Wimberly had their own foot :D

No not cheap, but that's photography for you...

Cheers for the quick and very useful reply

There are loads of Arca-swiss compatible plates & pretty much any of the longer ones will work just fine.
I have quite a few compatible heads & plates from mixed manufacturers they are not totally cross compatible, but I think I've only come across one combination that didn't fit together (One head wouldn't open quite as wide as the others, didn't like one plate that was a little wider than most).

I'm not at all sure there is a best and if there is it's advantages from the bulk of the options would be too small to be significant.

@Box Brownie - cheers for that

@Petrochemist - Thanks, while it's not cheap I think the Wimberley replacement foot seems like the most reliable option, given it's the same make and also the lens is expensive so I don't want any accidents!

I'm still getting used to the idea that the lens sits to one side of the 'pod but many others have said it works well so I guess I need to trust people on that!

I’ve been using the Haogo LF-C468 arca swiss one for 3 years now with zero problems. Build quality is good and fits perfectly and I can use it to hold/carry the lens even with the lens hood reversed. I just use mine with a monopod head rather than a gimbal

Haoge is perfectly fine, and much cheaper than most of the other options for replacement feet.
