best aperture for canon 70-300 IS?

Whats the best aperture for this lens. Or is there a place that would tell me?

Im guessing at f8 its better than 5.6

if im reading that right it should mean that this is correct :-

50mm @ f/5.6
200mm @ f/5.6
300mm @ f/8

This would give the sharpest images.

Thats what I mean, the numbers on the first site would say that f5.6 is better but looking on the second link, the examples show the opersite

Ok that makes sense, I couldn't work out what the 1st site was saying pics are easier for me

Never looked at the tables but from real world experience I'd say that sounds about right.
