Best Android Tracking App?

Google has it's own app called device manager.

Apparently it can lock and erase, but thankfully I have never had a need to test it. But it does a good job of locating all my android devices.

Cerberus. Free, and there is nothing better or that offers more functionality. You can even remotely turn the camera and mic on..

:agree:

This it works extremely well and as well as tracking it gives three options -

1. sound alarm for 10 minutes
2. lock phone
3. erase everything

I have AVG Antivirus Pro on my Galaxy S4. As well as the Internet protection, it also has anti theft fuctionality. You can send your phone commands via text message from another phone...

AVGShout, to sound an alarm, AVGLocate, to track the phone using Google Maps, and there is also AVGLock and AVGWipe. You can also set it to take a photo with the front camera after the phone password has been entered incorrectly 3 times, and completely disable the device if the thief changes the SIM card.

The whole "disable the device" thing - is that not easily by passed with some software or something?

It's not free but at 2.99 euros for upto 5 devices for life it might as well be. It does look good.

Oh, sorry, it certainly used to be. I've been using it for years. You can remote track your device, lock it, wipe it, wipe the SD card, turn on flashing text/alarms to say "give me my phone back", get text messages and phone logs, get the details of any new SIM cards inserted, turn on the camera and mic, and it also takes pics and emails them to you when someone puts in the wrong unlock code. I can't think of any extra features you'd need really!

I use this in combination with Tasker - so my keypad lock is only enabled when I'm out of range of home wifi.

Generally speaking getting around these involves knowing how to do a factory reset - e.g. power device on with a combination of buttons that allows a full wipe. Not possible on all devices, is on some. If you have a rooted android device it's possible to bake Cerberus into the recovery image though, so even this doesn't get around it!

I've downloaded Cerberus - thanks for the recommendation.
Looks fab so far - everything you could wish for.

Another great feature- when I've left my phone somewhere in the house on silent, Cerberus can override volume setting and make a loud audible alert..!

I have all devices in the house protected by Prey. Worth a look.
