Best all rounder camera

I think the biggest thing moving from a full frame camera to something like a lot of the cameras mentioned is DOF, subject isolation and low light capabilities.

Yeah agree in good light most cameras can take a decent shot, but in more demanding conditions I think that's when you will start to miss the 6D.

I guess it all depends on when and what you are shooting and your expectations.

I wouldn't really be wanting to shoot equestrian without a DSLR or something like the XT-2 I guess - but it really is dependent on your needs.

Thankyou fz1000 does sound tempting
Ok, but its bigger and heavier than the 6d, and offers lower image quality (you wanted something smaller and lighter.

If you're looking at something like that, you'd have been better off keeping the 6d and a 50mm STM for kids / pets and a just having a 70-200mm for the horses.

With a small camera system, you might struggle on the low light (kids and pets indoors) and horses. Though that said, the FZ1000 does have good AF for a bridge.

Is it a case of never getting to grips with the 6d, and using light correctly etc (I recall some threads as such!)? If so, you might struggle with the next one too?

In fact, the 6d with a tiny inexpensive Canon 35mm f/2 is ideal for pets :)

Look at Nikon D5500 plus 18-140 lens, in FF terms 27-210.
18-140 is reportedly better than 18-200.
5600 is out now but viRitually the same camera, so may be deals on 5500.
5500 weighs slightly less than X-T2.

The D3300 and D5500 are a bit more cumbersome than an X-T2.

Do you really need a lens that goes to 200mm? Could just move a little closer and have a smaller lens (and if you get aps-c etc you have the crop factor, so might not need it to 200mm).

The OP is gonna buy the panasonic fz1000 in the sale section. I think that bridge camera has a very long focal?

In that situation I just either take a single 24-105 or if I'm shooting my dogs (same for kids though I don't have any!) I'd take just my 50 or 85mm and make everything fit around that. It's more fun and you get better results. I hardly ever change lenses in the field!

A bridge, photographically, is a big compromise but the FZ1000 is great for general use.
