I currently have a 5 year old Viewsonic 20" PVA display, it's done me well but now I use 30" screens at at work and want to play with 1080p footage it feels a little small...

I'm looking to replace it with a 27" 2560 x 1440 WQHD Panel but which one to get?

I like the idea of getting an LED backlit display for the reduced size and heat output* but I have read a couple of times that it's not the best for photography work?

I'm currently looking at the Samsung SA850 which is an LED backlit PLS (samsungs version of IPS) matt display but without the harsh AG coating seen on the Dells.

The other option is obviously the Dell U2711 and the newly released U2713, an LED backlit version which is of interest. The latter seems to be so new I can't see any reviews for it...

At the moment I'm umming and arring over the Samsung and the new U2713 depending on good reviews (the AG coating talk always put me off the U2711) but I know there are loads of other options (such as Hazro and a load of other manufacturers). Anyone got one recently or looking in to getting one now?

*My work HP's are thick and put out masses of heat

the BEST screen is U2711

the U2713HM is not a replacement, it is to go along side U2711. same as how U2412M didn't replace the U2410. the M stands for mainstream, cut down version of the best.

having said that, go with U2713 as it will be priced to compete with cheaper 27 inches on the market at the moment (think Hazro), but with superior warranty and built quality.

I have dell 2711 and it's OK, as long as you sit back slightly. If you look at it under the microscope that coating will annoy you, but otherwise it makes almost no difference. 2007 was a bit smoother though, but that is nothing against the glossy horror apple make.
You will also want to calibrate it.
